MICROHOME / Edition #5- Shortlisted Projects
The financial evolution of recent years has led to an abnormal situation in which it is almost impossible for young people to buy a house, while the rent equals the bank rates needed for a house. In the suburbs of the cities we find more and more young people in need of affordable housing that meets their daily needs. In order to attract them to this areas, town halls offer various facilities, including plots of land. In order to become the owners of the land, a house must be built on this plots of land, but building a house can be a considerable investment. Thus, microhome can be the answer for single people, or couples in transition to a family life. The proposed home is designed to be assembled easily and quickly, from prefabricated CLT panels, thermal insulation and ventilated facade. For the sustainability and ecology of the project, beside the chosen materials, a system of photovoltaic panels near an air-to-air heat pump in addition to the rainwater that is captured from the roof, filtered and stored for later use are all helping in cost lving. From the point of view of functional organization, modular furniture definitely represents a key element in the use of a limited space. The modularity of the furniture allows you to reconfigure the living space so that the elements that are not needed in a certain scenario of use are hidden behind a closed door. The main space, which becomes the living, dining, working, relaxing or sleeping area, as needed, contains modular furniture as well as storage spaces related to them. The floor is also used to its maximum capacity to serve storage spaces and the technical area (for the water tank and the storing batteries of photovoltaic panels). The furniture systems were chosen to maintain the project at a reasonable cost and offer maximum versatility.
